IF YOU PREVIOUSLY APPLIED NO NEED TO REAPPLY Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field. Six years of progressively responsible experience in core transportation operations, four of which were in a supervisory capacity. Must have knowledge of the Authority’s bus operation procedures, rolling stock equipment, work equipment, emergency and safety procedures, and service equipment. Must have demonstrated ability to perform well given tight deadlines, extreme pressure and adverse conditions. Knowledge of Labor Agreement and experience dealing with union representatives required. Directly related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis in lieu of a degree. INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments.

Basic Functions

SUMMARY Directly responsible for the cost effective and efficient operation of an operating garage. Directs, plans, budgets, and manages all transportation activities related to garage’s operation. Directs the scheduling of daily transportation operations and ensures compliance with operating policies, regulations, labor agreement and work rules. Prepares reports on operational activities and incidents. Will act as liaison with the Maintenance Superintendent to ensure that a reliable bus fleet is provided for services. On twenty-four (24) hour basis, he/she will be required to respond and assume command during emergencies or major incidents. Will represent the Authority at community meetings. Supervises and coordinates activities of Supt. of Transportation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES 1. Manages overall work goals and activities. 2. Prepares, administers, and maintains adherence to budget. 3. Maintains staffing and supervises employees as appropriate to needs of branch. 4. Creates and maintains a consistent quality and customer focused team orientation among subordinate employees which supports the division’s mission. 5. Ensures proper adherence to the labor agreement and various work rules. 6. Suggestions and recommendations as to hiring, firing, advancement, or promotion are given weight. 7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Special Requirements

This position has been identified as having responsibility for transit safety oversight at MARTA and is required to comply with the training requirements identified in the Authority’s Agency Safety Plan. Training requirements must be completed within 3 years of employment. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises a staff of approximately 500 transportation employees (Supt., Asst.Supt/dispatcher, division dispatchers, and operators).
