OUT Georgia Business Alliance Announces Departure of Executive Director Chris Lugo

Atlanta, GA (Dec 2, 2024) – The OUT Georgia Business Alliance, Georgia’s only LGBTQ+ and allied chamber of commerce, announces the departure of Chris Lugo (he/him), its first-ever Executive Director, after five years of transformative leadership.

Since stepping into the role in 2019, Chris has been a driving force behind OUT Georgia’s mission to uplift LGBTQ+ and allied professionals and businesses across the state. His tenure will be remembered for groundbreaking initiatives creating space for TGX360, innovative leadership during challenging times, and a steadfast commitment to inclusion and economic empowerment.

Chris’s leadership was instrumental in navigating the Alliance through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring the organization not only survived but thrived.
His creative problem-solving and courage in uncertain times set a strong foundation for OUT Georgia’s continued growth.

Under his guidance, OUT Georgia produced some of its most memorable signature events, including the 2022 Community Honors at Atlanta City Hall and Economic Inclusion Summits held at the Atlanta Braves in 2022 and the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta in 2023 and 2024. These events not only spotlighted the Alliance’s commitment to fostering inclusion but also established OUT Georgia as a leader in creating spaces for impactful connection and collaboration across Georgia’s LGBTQ+ and allied business community.

“We are deeply grateful for Chris Lugo’s remarkable contributions over the past five years,” said board vice president Danielle Bonanno (she/they). “His energy, vision, and expansive commitment to inclusion have left an indelible mark on this organization and the communities we serve.”

As OUT Georgia moves into its next chapter, the organization is pleased to announce that longtime staffer and current Director of Operations/Programs Andi Monroe (they/them) has been named Interim Executive Director. Andi has been with the Alliance since 2022, bringing a proven track record of operational excellence and a deep passion for advancing the chamber’s mission.

“Andi is the right leader for this moment,” said board president Paul Conroy (he/him). “Their dedication, accountability, and unwavering commitment to the LGBTQ+ and allied business community have been critical to OUT Georgia’s success. We’re thrilled to see them step into this role, and we are confident that their leadership will ensure a seamless transition while continuing to elevate the work of this incredible organization.”

Members are encouraged to engage with active board members or reach out directly to Andi at info@outgeorgia.org for more information on how to support the chamber during this critical transition. Your insights, collaboration, and participation are vital as we build on the strong foundation laid by Chris Lugo.
