Member Code of Conduct

OUT Georgia Business Alliance (“OUT Georgia,” “OGBA,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) and its Members strive to recognize, promote, and improve the LGBTQIA+ and allied business community, the broader workforce and business environment, and Georgia’s growing LGBTQIA+ community. 

The purpose of the Member Code of Conduct is to underscore that all Members of the OUT Georgia Business Alliance, including individuals, businesses, and organizations, as a condition of Membership, share an honor-bound commitment to uphold the following standards of business conduct and ethics. 

Standards of Business Conduct and Ethics

1. Honesty and Integrity: Members will conduct business with honesty, integrity, and fairness, treating customers, clients, and employees with respect and dignity.

2. Accountability: Members will be accessible and accountable to customers and clients, making every reasonable effort to act in their best interest and benefit.

3. Non-Discrimination: Members will not discriminate based on age, race, color, sex, gender identity or expression, the presence of a physical, mental or sensory disability, genetic information, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, military status, political ideology, status as a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking, or any other category protected by local, state or federal law.

4. Truthful Advertising: Members will ensure all advertising and promotion of their business, products, or services are truthful, non-deceptive, and free from false or misleading statements.

5. Ethical Conduct: Members will not engage in or condone advertising that is untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere. Advertising must not mislead or result in misrepresentation by direct statement, inference, or omission.

6. Legal Compliance: Members will conduct business in strict adherence to the laws of the state in which they are located and to the professional codes of their specific business or profession, following generally accepted business practices.

7. Community Support: Members will support the ideals and goals of OUT Georgia and the LGBTQIA+ community in a constructive and positive manner, contributing to the overall well-being and advancement of the community.

Online Safety and Conduct

8. Digital Integrity: Members will engage in online activities, including social media and digital communications, with integrity and respect, ensuring their conduct reflects positively on OUT Georgia and the LGBTQIA+ community.

9. Data Privacy: Members will protect the personal information of clients, customers, and employees, adhering to best practices in data privacy and security.

Personal and Business Safety

10. Safe Environment: Members will strive to create and maintain safe environments for their employees, customers, and clients, both in-person and online, ensuring that all spaces are free from harassment, discrimination, and harm.

11. Support and Advocacy: Members will actively support and advocate for the safety, rights, and well-being of LGBTQIA+ individuals and the broader allied community, promoting inclusive and equitable practices.

Compliance and Enforcement

12. Compliance: Members will comply with this Code of Conduct and support its enforcement within the OUT Georgia community.

13. Reporting Violations: Members are encouraged to report any violations of this Code of Conduct to OUT Georgia for appropriate action.

14. Consequences: Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including revocation of membership.
