On Thursday, July 30, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms kicked off the first-ever Mayor’s Virtual LGBTQ Opportunity Fair that brought 800+ LGBTQ+ job seekers together with 30+ local employers of choice.
The Mayor’s Virtual LGBTQ Opportunity Fair was a historic initiative by Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms to leverage the combined power of government, the corporate sector, and local non-profits to ensure that LGBTQ Atlantans are prepared and ready to thrive in the workforce.
This virtual opportunity fair featured on-site interviews with some of Atlanta’s foremost employers, as well as complimentary workshops tailored to the needs of the LGBTQ community.
“With over 1,100 quality jobs presented directly to LGBTQ+ Atlantans, we couldn’t have been prouder to be support this historic event and serve on the Executive Planning Committee,” said Chris Lugo, Executive Director of OUT Georgia Business Alliance and Member of the Mayor of Atlanta’s LGBTQ Advisory Board.
“Not only did the Mayor’s Virtual LGBTQ Opportunity Fair bring together many of Atlanta’s most prominent and pro-LGBTQ companies, but the event also tapped into the passion and expertise of local nonprofits, professionals, and organizations committed to advancing employment initiatives for our diverse LGBTQ+ community,” added Lugo.
