OUT Georgia Business Alliance is proud to serve Georgia’s LGBTQ+ and allied community by advocating for inclusive and equitable business environments; providing support and resources to fuel economic growth; and driving meaningful community connections and impact across the State of Georgia.
With the passing of SB 140 by Georgia’s House of Representatives and Senate, OUT Georgia urges Governor Brian Kemp to veto this dangerous piece of anti-trans legislation.
SB 140 restricts access to gender affirming care for gender diverse youth. This controversial and discriminatory bill was amended to criminalize medical providers for providing medical care that is in line with established standards of care.
If signed into law, Georgia’s transgender, non-binary, and gender expansive youth will lose access to affirming, evidence-based, and medically necessary healthcare.
Medical providers who offer gender affirming care for youth will face harsh sanctions, while medical providers who harm intersex children – by performing medically unnecessary surgeries that are clear human rights abuses – will be actively protected under state law.
For young gender diverse Georgians – who could become our state’s next CEOs, executives, entrepreneurs, leaders, and employers – losing access to gender affirming care will signal that their lives aren’t valuable. And for some, parents may decide that Georgia is no longer safe, welcoming, and supportive of their families.
With International Transgender Day of Visibility quickly approaching, transgender, non-binary, and gender expansive youth need the help of our community.
OUT Georgia Business Alliance stands strong with Georgia Equality and the many organizations and advocates fighting to protect gender diverse youth. As such, we are asking OUT Georgia’s 400+ members to ACT NOW.
Gender affirming care IS life-saving care. Tell Governor Brian Kemp to Veto SB 140!
